In traditional IVF, eggs and sperm are fertilized in a laboratory setting. The resulting embryos are cultivated in external incubators before being transferred to the uterus for implantation. 

The INVOcell device

By comparison, INVOcell is a small, ground-breaking IVF device that holds the eggs and sperm, facilitating fertilization and early embryo development within the woman's body. This process, known as intravaginal culture (IVC), mimics the natural conception environment — including similar temperature, oxygen ratios, and pH balance — much more closely than lab conditions.

After five days in the woman’s body, the INVOcell is removed and the healthiest embryo is placed back within the uterus for implantation. If there are additional embryos from the process, they can be frozen and used as-needed in the future.
